Back Up Those Save Files
Valheim, the Viking survival sim that’s tearing up the Steam charts this month, is having bug problems. In particular, the devs are warning players about an ‘evil world-destroyer bug’ that’s currently rearing its ugly head. Seems like now is a good time to learn about copying and backing up save files, perhaps.
Thankfully, there are steps in place for both before and after this nasty bug hits your game. As a precautionary measure, you can find the files that need copying in C:UsersUsernameAppDataLocalLowIronGateValheim. If you’ve already been struck down by this bug, PC Gamer suggests you track down the “.db.old and .fwl.old files. If you want to restore those versions, you’d just need to delete the .old from the end of the file name and replace them in those folders.”
Now, keep in mind that this awful bug is so rare that Iron Gate’s testers have been unable to reproduce it so far. But even if this thing is unlikely to hit you, it’s better to be safe than sorry, right? After all, you don’t want to lose any progress! Carving out a kingdom in the tenth realm is tough enough already, you know? Valheim is currently available in Steam Early Access. You can check out the launch trailer embedded below!
