Serena Williams’ watch for a record-equalling 24th singles Grand Slam title continued after she was knocked out by Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka in three units within the US Open semi-finals. Serena, seeded third, misplaced 6-1, 3-6, 3-6 to Azarenka, who will now tackle Japanese fourth seed Naomi Osaka within the remaining at Flushing Meadows.
Osaka defeated 28th seed Jennifer Brady in a top quality three-setter to achieve the US Open remaining. 2018 US Open champion overcame the 25-year-old American 7-6 (7/1), 3-6, 6-Three in 2hr 8min underneath the roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
