Reliance Industries’ telecom unit is trying to outsource the manufacturing of over 10 crore low-cost smartphones that will likely be constructed on Google’s Android platform, the Business Standard newspaper reported, citing sources. The telephones, which will likely be bundled with information packs, might be launched in December 2020 or early subsequent 12 months, the newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Reliance Industries, India’s most highly-valued firm, in July mentioned Alphabet Inc’s Google will make investments $4.5 billion in its digital unit. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani, who controls Reliance, in July mentioned that Google would construct an Android working system (OS) to energy a low-cost “4G and even 5G” smartphone that Reliance Industries would design.
Reliance Industries has bought almost 33 per cent of its digital arm, Jio Platforms, to boost Rs 1.52 trillion ($20.22 billion) and has gained the backing of worldwide monetary and tech buyers together with, Fb Inc, Intel and Qualcomm.
