Gen 4 Remakes Are Finally Coming
The long-awaited and highly anticipated generation 4 remakes have officially been announced by the Pokémon Company as part of today’s Pokémon Presents. The Diamond and Pearl remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are set to release for Nintendo Switch in late 2021.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl is a faithful remake of the original DS games, recreating the world of Sinnoh in an unique art style that sets itself apart from both Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon Let’s Go.
For quite some time there has been a popular meme fans would use to respond to any potential remake hints, stating “Sinnoh Remakes Confirmed” or “Gen 4 Confirmed”. Well, even The Pokémon Company got in on this one, including it in the description on the official announcement trailer:
“Sinnoh. Remakes. Confirmed. Experience the nostalgic story from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl in a new adventure. #PokemonBrilliantDiamond and #PokemonShiningPearl arrive on the Nintendo Switch in late 2021!”
The announcement trailer highlights some well-known areas and scenes from the original game, including the moment players are given their starter Pokémon. It even confirms that Sinnoh’s underground tunnel system will be making a return in the remakes.
