Originally Announced For The 3DS
Four years ago, a mech-battling adventure was announced for 3DS. Then there was very little information for what felt like a lifetime. Suddenly, we’re getting new details about Megaton Musashi, coming to us courtesy of Level-5. A bunch of videos from this year’s TGS are embedded below!
While the cut-scene CGI looks oddly out of place, the actual gameplay seems more approachable. high school students hopping in giant robots to fight for their lives? As always, sign me the heck up. There’s something about a mechanical extension of one’s will that really gels with the unstable mental landscape of a young adult.
There’s a bit of customization to mess with, but the general aesthetic holds throughout. All the mecha have this chunky, old-school vibe that harkens back to a bygone era while still feeling cool. Jury’s out on the actual combat. It looks familiar but could feel like anything at all, you know? Sadly, we still have nothing like a release date for the project, in spite of the colossal development time. There are some more gameplay and breakdown videos embedded below, along with the story trailer. Megaton Musashi is coming sometime to the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
