Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray paid tributes to former president Pranab Mukherjee on the first day of the state legislature’s monsoon session on Monday, describing him as a fragile human being who dealt with others with respect.
Pranab Mukhejee, 84, died in a army hospital in New Delhi on August 31.
Speaking on the condolence motion inside the Legislative Assembly, Mr Thackeray talked about he first met Mukherjee when the latter visited his home “Matoshree” with NCP chief Sharad Pawar as part of his advertising marketing campaign for the presidential polls.
“I realised he was a fragile human being who dealt with others with respect. It’s a unusual top quality,” Mr Thackeray talked about.
The chief minister recalled that when Pranab Mukherjee, as president, was in Mumbai only a few years up to now, he purchased a reputation that the visiting dignitary wanted to fulfill him.
“I went to the Raj Bhavan with Aaditya (Thackeray’s son) and (Pranab) Mukherjee instructed me he on no account thought he might be the president. Nevertheless the Shiv Sena overtly supported my candidature and facilitated my win. Sadly Balasaheb Thackeray is not with us now and my tenure is ending,” the chief minister talked about recalling Mr Mukherjee”s phrases.
Mr Thackeray moreover talked about Pranab Mukherjee congratulated him on the Shiv Sena’s win inside the Brihanmumbai Municipal Firm elections.
“Exhibiting gratitude can be a unusual top quality, in some other case after getting the chair of power each little factor is forgotten,” Mr Thackeray talked about.
The chief minister moreover paid homage to former chief minister Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar, and former legislature members Anil Rathod, Chandrakanta Goyal amongst others, who died not too way back.
The condolence motion was supported by Chief of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and totally different members.
Mr Fadnavis whereas paying tributes to Mr Mukherjee described him as an outstanding parliamentarian and statesman. He moreover paid tributes to former chief minister Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar.
