Hitman Trilogy File Size Getting Reduced Drastically
IO Interactive has officially confirmed that the Hitman trilogy will get a significant file size reduction in the near future as the team is currently working to compress files. All three games with all of the DLC content will now take up around 100 GB upon the completion of this work at IO Interactive, but it will result in a more polished experience through backward compatibility. Hitman 3 is releasing for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and on PC through the Epic Games Store on January 20th.
“One thing I think all of you will be happy to hear is that we have managed to get the size of the game down significantly,” said a developer at IO Interactive on a recent ResetEra post. “All three games with all content will take up around 100 GB… it’s backward compatible with the previous two games in the trilogy and lots of surfaces have been upgraded.” According to this developer, the results are quite stunning.
Considering a developer at IO Interactive is confident enough to tell ResetEra that the file size of the Hitman trilogy will be reduced, it’ll be interesting to see if the file compression is available on the day Hitman 3 releases. Hitman 3 will undoubtedly receive tons of DLC in the future too so this retroactive file compression will likely benefit future content as well. The developer also hinted at ways the Hitman trilogy is getting optimized through backward compatibility, but no official date for this update has been announced.
