Horizon Forbidden West Will Use DualSense For a More Immersive Experience Than Ever | COGconnected

Get Ready to Feel the Long Grass Brush Against Your Avatar

Upcoming action game Horizon Forbidden West promises to be an even more immersive experience than its predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn. The first game lured audiences in with spellbindingly beautiful environments, captivating machine battles, and a lush, memorable dystopian world. The second game is determined to do one better using the DualSense’s haptics capabilities. In other words, the devs are planning to bring Horizon Forbidden West to a whole new level of immersion through the player’s sense of touch, which sounds like a positively magical experience. We can’t wait to see–and feel–this title in action.

“If you want to take a stealth approach to a combat situation and you dive into long grass,” said Guerrilla studio director Angie Smets on the subject of this focus on touch and how it will play into stealth, you can feel those long grass leaves.”

Since Horizon Forbidden West will also be introducing even more gorgeous landscapes, including clifftop ruins, misty forests, and abandoned underwater cities, this sounds like a great way to make the game’s world more real than ever. Now we’re wondering if players will be able to feel the surf as they walk along the water’s edge or the tension of gripping onto a treacherous ledge. And what about the red blight? Will we be able to feel the threat it represents? There are so many ways this could turn out and we’re on the edge of our seats waiting to hear more.

Although there have been rumors the game would be delayed thanks to the pandemic, it appears to still be on track for its original release date. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Horizon Forbidden West will be available on PS4 and PS5 in the second half of 2021.
