Customs officers have arrested two males for allegedly smuggling gold and iPhones price over Rs 16 lakh into the nation, based on an official assertion.
The accused had been a part of a better nexus and had been concerned in taking on and transporting smuggled gold, digital gadgets and overseas origin cigarettes from Lucknow worldwide airport to Delhi, it mentioned.
They had been intercepted on Wednesday by the narcotics cell of Delhi Police. After they discovered these two males carrying smuggled gold in paste type, Delhi Police personnel knowledgeable officers of the customs (preventive), Delhi.
“A paste like substance suspected to be gold paste was recovered from them which was stitched within the belt and backside margins of two denims they had been carrying. Upon extraction gold weighing 283.99 gms valued at Rs 13,25,750 was recovered from the paste,” the assertion issued by the customs (preventive) mentioned.
4 new iPhones, valued at round Rs three lakh had been additionally recovered from the 2, it mentioned. These iPhones had been smuggled into the nation by different members of a syndicate of which they’re mentioned to be an element.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed smuggling of contraband to the tune of Rs 1.06 crore by the accused over the last one month,” the assertion mentioned.
They had been arrested by the customs officers on Wednesday night for violation of provisions of the Customs Act 1962 and have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, it mentioned.
