Gorakhpur:
Twelve folks had been arrested in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday after a person and a girl had been allegedly paraded in a village there, carrying garlands of footwear and their faces blackened, police stated.
The incident occurred within the Hata police station space of Kushinagar, and a purported video of it surfaced on social media, they added.
The ”sabhasad” (consultant of the ward) is amongst these taken into custody, Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Mishra stated.
“A video of Hata space of the district went viral on social media which exhibits {that a} girl and a person had been made to put on a garland of footwear, and with blackened faces, they had been paraded within the village. Police have taken cognisance of the matter, and 12 folks, together with the ”sabhasad”, have been taken into custody,” he stated.
“Police are interrogating them. Strict motion might be taken towards the wrongdoer,” the SP added.
