Mumbai:
Latching onto the CAG’s antagonistic remarks about ‘Jalyukt Shivar’ scheme, the NCP and Congress on Wednesday focused BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis.
Mr Fadnavis, when he was chief minister, had aggressively promoted the scheme which geared toward rain harvesting and water conservation on the village degree.
However the Comptroller and Auditor Normal’s report, tabled within the state Meeting on Tuesday, mentioned it had little impression on elevating the groundwater degree and was executed in a non-transparent manner.
A sum of Rs 9,633.75 crore was spent on the scheme, it mentioned.
State NCP chief and minister Jayant Patil mentioned even the CAG report had mentioned that just like the BJP’s different guarantees, the Jalyukt Shivar too was “Mungerilal ke haseen sapne” (a pipe dream).
“When in opposition, we repeatedly mentioned that the Jalyukt Shivar scheme won’t be helpful, that there’s a massive rip-off in it. A false marketing campaign was on by way of ads about Jalyukt Shivar. Now, the CAG report has burst the bubble of fraud,” he mentioned.
State Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant mentioned the CAG has endorsed his allegations.
“I stored stating the huge rip-off in Jalyukt Shivar… The CAG report has affirmed my declare. Fadnavis should take accountability and resign as Chief of Opposition,” Mr Sawant mentioned in an announcement.
