Next-Gen Rocket League Allows for Player Choice
With the release of Xbox Series X/S and PS5/PS5 Digital Edition having come and gone, Psyonix has officially announced how Rocket League will perform on the next-gen consoles. Visual and performance upgrades are available for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, with an update coming to Xbox Series X later this year allowing Rocket League fans to optimize their experience by opting for performance over visuals or vice versa. Rocket League is available for free right now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S. Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Rocket League’s next-gen upgrade runs at 4K 60 FPS with HDR according to Psyonix. A game update coming to the Xbox Series X later this year will add a new “Video Quality setting” within the Video tab of the Settings menu and it will allow users to select quality over performance. The Xbox Series S won’t get the same treatment as it runs at 1080p resolution at 60 FPS with HDR, though gamers on the less powerful hardware will still get the update that allows for player choice. Psyonix has yet to confirm when Xbox fans can expect the video quality update for Rocket League on next-gen consoles beyond later this year.
“The Xbox Series X|S, and the PlayStation 5 launch this week, and you’ll be able to play Rocket League on all of them,” said Psyonix on the official Rocket League Twitter account. Psyonix says that Rocket League will run a little different on the PS5, with 4K Resolution (checkerboard) at 60 FPS with HDR. Rocket League on the PS5 will not be getting the same player choice update that allows Xbox Series X/S gamers to choose visuals or performance.
