The Mystery Door Opens
Yesterday’s Borderlands Show yielded a lot of exciting information for Borderlands fans, including a re-launch of Tales from the Borderlands on digital stores. The second part Borderlands 3’s second season pass will be launching on March 18th. The Designer’s Cut launched last year with Arms Race, new skill trees, and alternate cosmetics. Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut will offer a little more in terms of activities. There will be a new quest line and a raid boss, which has been a staple for Borderlands games since the first one.
We have had a couple of Takedowns, where players fight their way through areas filled with tough enemies to fight a super boss, but Borderlands 3 has been missing its own Crawmerax the Invincible or Terramorphus the Invincible. That will change with the Varkid raid boss Hemovorous the Invincible. Hemovorous’ base level is 35, but it will scale to character level beyond that and the party’s Mayhem level. A chance to challenge this raid boss will cost the party 500 Eridium pieces, which is chump change with all the drop modifiers and events. Borderlands 3 players know about that one door on Pandora that we never got to open. You can bet that is where we will find Hemovorous.
The Director’s Cut will also start up a new quest line for Ava. You know, since all the players love her so much. Maybe we will see a more likeable side from her while she sends you out to investigate paranormal activities in a series of murder mysteries. These quests will bring you to each of the different planets from the main story and it won’t just be about going somewhere to kill a bunch of enemies. I mean, it’s bound to happen, but you will also be analyzing crime scenes to deduce what has happened, then follow up on your findings.
Borderlands 3 will be introducing Vault Cards, which will be a series of daily and weekly challenges. Completing these challenges will earn you points working towards new gear and a buttload of XP. Gearbox says that the first of three Vault Cards will reward players with “items that honor some of the franchise’s most beloved fallen heroes“. There will also be new Multiverse cosmetics. Like the ones released as part of the Designer’s Cut, these skins will have our Vault Hunters reimagined as raiders. All this content will be released as part of Season Pass 2 on March 18th. Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Stadia.
