Animal Crossing: New Horizons Continues to Sell Well
Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to be a Nintendo Switch powerhouse as the title recently surpassed six million units sold in Japan alone. So far only five titles have reached this sales milestone in Japan, bringing New Horizons to new heights. The best-selling title in Japan for last week hasn’t released outside of the region, with Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban leading the chart. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch right now.
While Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban headed last week’s Japanese game sales chart, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity came in second place for sales during the week with over 173,000 units sold. Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to show its gaming dominance by retaining a third-place spot in the sales chart with over 37,000 units sold. Ring Fit Adventure continues to fly off store shelves as well, with the fitness Nintendo Switch exclusive selling around 36,000.
Surprisingly, the Fortnite: The Last Laugh Bundle reached the fifth place in sales last week in Japan, selling over 31,000 units despite the game itself being free to play. The Last Laugh Bundle includes several cosmetic items that would normally cost Fortnite fans v-bucks, including Joker and Poison Ivy skins. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War followed closely behind Fortnite, with 25,000 sales last week in Japan, while Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Party, and Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass rounded out the rest of Japan’s top ten for last week.
