After putting on a show in his first preseason game without scoring on Saturday, LaMelo Ball broke into the scoring column in his second preseason game. In total in his second game, Ball finished with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. While his first three-pointer was the one that gave him his first unofficial points of his career, his second three-pointer was notable as well.
Late in the third quarter, after setting a screen and rolling to the basket, Bismack Biyombo found Ball in the corner for a three-pointer in front of the Raptors bench. Ball connected on the three, then turned and stared down Toronto’s bench.
The reason for Ball’s staredown of the bench is unknown. It was a brief moment in the game and not preceded or followed the moment. Most likely, a player yelled in an effort to throw off Ball’s shot and Ball’s stare was his response after making the three.
Ball’s final stat line on the night was 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting overall, 2-of-6 shooting from range and 4-of-6 shooting from the line. He also notched three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Charlotte lost the game on the night, 112-109.
