Great British Bake-Off Finalist Kim-Joy Has Outdone Herself
Ever since the demo dropped, Balan Wonderworld has gotten… mixed responses, to put it politely. That’s too bad, because the game has an engaging premise and oozes style. Now the marketing team has joined forces with another show that oozes fun and style: the Great British Bake-Off. Finalist Kim-Joy has put together a fantastic cake modeled after title character Balan’s top hat and it is gorgeous. She’s also put together a short video depicting how she made the cake, so if any of you fancy yourself bakers, artists, or something in between, you can give the project a try. If you do decide to give the design a shot, let us know. It looks positively scrumptious.
This wonderful Wonderworld cake is actually made from several cakes stacked on top of each other, coated in a generous Italian meringue buttercream, and carved into the shape of Balan’s top hat. The exterior is covered in a crumb coat and wrapped in a layer of fondant with a curved brim added at the base. A ribbon of red fondant adds a swathe of color, a wink brings a sense of playfulness, and a single golden eye carefully sketched out in edible paints finishes the job. Balan Wonderworld was released today, so whether you’re looking forward to playing it or not, you can still celebrate with this gorgeous cake.
“It was a real pleasure working with Square Enix to recreate their character’s top-hat from Balan Wonderworld,” said Kim-Joy, who is also a two times bestselling baking author. “The game’s colourful characters, vivid world and extensive range of costumes offered me endless cake possibilities. Balan’s top-hat wasn’t the easiest baking process but I’m very pleased with the final cake!”
BALAN WONDERWORLD is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.
