The Division 2 Getting Updated for Next-Gen
According to Ubisoft, an upcoming patch for The Division 2 will upgrade the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Ubisoft officially confirmed patch 12.1 during a recent State of the Game broadcast, stating that it will change things for everyone, but particularly for people who own the newer consoles. Patch 12.1 will release on February 2nd and that’s when Xbox Series X and PS5 fans can experience the game in crisp 4K at 60 FPS. The Division 2 is available right now for Xbox One, PS4, Google Stadia, and PC.
In addition to the next-gen upgrades for The Division 2 in patch 12.1 comes the introduction of Optimization Station, Summit Challenges, improvements to the Summit, new year, the Global Event Shop, and several other improvements. Although these big changes are expected for February, Title Update 12 is the leadup and it releases next week. Ubisoft also recently brought Rainbow Six Siege to the next-gen consoles with Operation Neon Dawn and The Division 2 update will expand their PS5 and Xbox Series X/S lineup.
“The Division 2 will get an update to allow 4K 60 FPS on the new-gen consoles! Series S, Series X & PS5!” said the Ubisoft content specialist on his official “rxlyaT” Twitter account after the State of the Game broadcast. During the broadcast, the Ubisoft Massive team pointed out that patch 12.1’s next-gen improvement isn’t an optimization patch for Xbox Series X and PS5, but it merely allows the next-gen consoles to run The Division 2 in 4K resolution and 60FPS. This may suggest that further optimization patches will be released beyond February after players on PS5 and Xbox Series X get their hands on the improvements.
