A New Way to Experience the Horror
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes has been quiet for a while, but Little Hope is about to get thrust back into the spotlight. Between a spooky accolades trailer, the oncoming onslaught of Curator’s mode, and the announcement that all existing owners are getting a free Friend’s Pass–which lets them pull a friend who doesn’t even own the game into the darkness–this game won’t be leaving us alone anytime soon. Explore alternative paths. Trust your friends to save you. Succumb to the madness. Little Hope is once again here to scar us all for life.
If you’re just hearing about this now, here’s why you should be excited for the Curator’s Cut. Not only is it absolutely free, it acts as something of a New Game Plus mode. The press release describes it as “allowing players to get a fresh perspective with new and exclusive scenes following their initial playthrough. On top of this in-game content, players can also access the game’s soundtrack from today on all major streaming platforms.”
That sounds like more than enough reason to return to Little Hope and revisit the non-linear mystery surrounding the titular empty and monster-filled town. In Little Hope, nothing is as it appears to be. A little extra context–and terror–wouldn’t go amiss. Plus, access to the soundtrack sounds pretty awesome. But what if you don’t care about Little Hope and are just here to learn about the third installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology? In that case, we’re pleased to inform you that House of Ashes is still expected to arrive later this year, and it will be spooky. This time, it seems the threat will be something very physical, more inspired by Until Dawn than Man of Medan. We can’t wait to learn more.
The Friend’s Pass offer applies on PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC–and both players must be playing on the same platform.
The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2021.
