In a World of Free Stardew Content, We Get This
Every time I see news of the upcoming Story of Seasons or Harvest Moon games, I say to myself, “This will be the last time I compare the two, because it’s getting tiresome.” Every time, I lie to myself, because I just have to know the difference between the two. Recently, we got news of post-launch content for Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Players of Pioneers of Olive Town will be able to buy an Expansion Pass at some point after the game launches.
What? I have to pay for my farming sim DLC? Thus far, all the post-launch content of Stardew Valley, which has been plentiful, has all be in free content updates. There is also no word yet on a paid expansion or season pass for Harvest Moon: One World either. If you do decide you want this Expansion Pass for Story of Seasons, at least it won’t be a gamble on what you get. Along with the announcement of the pass, XSEED also released a roadmap for what gets released and when.
Once a month, for the first five months following release, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will get new content from the Expansion Pass. Each month, the game will get a new Sub-Scenario, which appears to be a side-quest line, or a new area, which also comes with new characters and marriage candidates. Most months will also come with new costumes for your character and marriage candidates. Though most of the content rolls out over five months, players who buy the Expansion Pass will immediately get access to three costume sets from earlier games Friends of Mineral Town and Trio of Towns. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will be out on March 23rd for Nintendo Switch.
Will you bite at this Expansion Pass or let it pass by? Let us know in the comments below.
