Swami Agnivesh, 80, died at a Delhi hospital on Friday evening

Social activist Swami Agnivesh died after a cardiac arrest Friday night on the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in Delhi. He was 80 years outdated. Admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, Swami Agnivesh was being handled for liver cirrhosis and had been on ventilator assist following multi-organ failure.
Based on a press release by the hospital, his situation started deteriorating this night and he suffered a coronary heart assault at 6 PM. Docs tried to resuscitate him however failed, and he was declared useless at 6.30 PM.
A social activist, spiritual chief and former Haryana MLA, information of Swami Agnivesh’s demise was greeted with shock, with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and senior lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan amongst those that tweeted.
“I’m shocked and saddened by his passing. A person of vigour and conviction, he by no means regarded, sounded or behaved his age! The nation is diminished by his passing & I mourn with the tens of millions whose rights he fought to uphold. Om Shanti,” Mr Tharoor stated.
“The demise of Swami Agnivesh is a big tragedy. A real warrior for humanity & tolerance. Among the many bravest that I knew… prepared to take big dangers for public good. Was brutalised in Jharkhand by a BJP/RSS lynch mob 2 yrs in the past. Liver obtained broken,” Mr Bhushan stated.
In July 2018 Swami Agnivesh was brutally assaulted, allegedly by BJP Yuva Morcha employees, in Jharkhand’s Pakur, the place he was attending an occasion.
As he got here out of the lodge he was staying in, he was attacked by a mob who had been allegedly chanting “Jai Sri Ram” as they thrashed him.

The BJP condemned the assault and insisted that the attackers weren’t related to the celebration, however added that the incident was not a shock given “Swami Agnivesh’s ‘monitor report'”.
“They had been carrying black flags and with none warning pounced on me. They punched, kicked and dragged me on the bottom. Additionally they used cuss phrases,” Swami Agnivesh instructed NDTV.
