Congrats On Becoming a Global Top Ten Seller, Skul
We’re in the middle of an indie game renaissance, and games like Skul: The Hero Slayer are a good reason why. This action-platformer-rogue-lite combines beautiful cel-shaded pixel art reminiscent of old-fashioned JRPGs with fast-paced, high octane combat. It’s hard to dislike a game with so much going for it. Plus, Skul himself is very cute for an undead hero-slayer. Just let him rescue his monster friends and demon king, Adventurers! Go be murderhobos somewhere else! In all seriousness, no wonder it’s sold so well–this game looks absolutely fantastic and plays like a dream. Watch this launch trailer to see for yourself.
A press release announced that Skul: The Hero Slayer had already “sold over 100k copies within the first 4 days. It has also remained firmly in the Top Ten of Global Sellers since launch and is showing no signs of slowing down. Over the weekend Skul also amassed over 40k concurrent viewers on Twitch, smashing its previous high.”
Not bad for a game that only launched on January 21st. Skul‘s reception has been amazingly positive, with Screen Rant’s review calling it “a great experience and one that will captivate players through its mixture of charming play and engaging narrative.” and PC Invasion stating that it’s “a wonderfully entertaining rogue-lite with great visuals and strong gameplay.” We called it “2021’s first great roguelike” ourselves, so you can see where we stand on the issue! In our defense, just look at those backgrounds. If you’re a fan of old-school RPG aesthetics like us, you really didn’t stand a chance, either.
Skul: The Hero Slayer is now available on Steam in its 1.0 Version.
