A disturbing video has emerged of a senior police officer in Madhya Pradesh assaulting his spouse, selling motion in opposition to him. The officer has been shifted and relieved of his duties. Purushottam Sharma, a Director Normal-rank officer, has justified his actions, calling it a “household dispute”, saying it’s “not a criminal offense”.

Within the widely-shared video, Purushottam Sharma, 1986 batch IPS officer, is seen arguing together with his spouse. In seconds, he holds her, pins her to the ground and thrashes her. Two different males might be seen within the room, with one in all them coming close to the couple. A pet canine is seen barking and strolling across the room because the spouse is being assaulted.
The officer can be seen exhibiting accidents on his hand at the same time as he continues yelling at his spouse.
“If my nature is abusive, then she ought to’ve complained earlier. This can be a household dispute, not a criminal offense. I’m neither a violent individual nor a prison. It’s unlucky that I’ve to undergo this. My spouse stalks me and has put cameras in the home,” the police officer was quoted as saying by information company ANI.
He stated they’ve been married for 32 years and that his spouse had complained in opposition to him in 2008.
“However the level is, since 2008, she has been dwelling in my home, having fun with all amenities and travelling overseas on my bills,” he reportedly stated.
The spouse was assaulted allegedly after she confronted Mr Sharma together with his pal.
Reacting to the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated, “He has been relieved of his duties. If anybody who holds a accountable place is discovered to be indulging in unlawful actions and taking legal guidelines into his arms, then motion might be taken in opposition to them, no matter who they’re.”
State Residence Minister Narottam Mishra stated, “I too have seen and examine it. If there’s any official grievance, then we’ll see.”
The Nationwide Fee for Ladies (NCW) has taken word of the video and its chief, Rekha Sharma, has written to the Chief Minister, searching for “applicable punishment” for the officer. “Such incidents ship a mistaken message to the society,” the NCW tweeted.
