Sea of Thieves Getting Optimized for Series X
Developers at Rare have officially confirmed that Sea of Thieves will be getting optimized for Xbox Series X/S upon the release of the next-gen Xbox consoles next week. While the Xbox Series X can expect flawless 4K resolution at 60FPS, the Xbox Series S will retain 60FPS at a less impressive 1080p. Sea of Thieves is available right now for Xbox One and PC, and it’s part of the extensive Xbox Game Pass Ultimate lineup.
“Excited about setting sail on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S?” said Rare Studios on the official Sea of Thieves Twitter account. “These are the key optimizations for your next-gen Sea of Thieves experience, so get set to enjoy some silky-smooth skelly smashing: Improved load times, 4K 60FPS on Xbox Series X, 1080p 60FPS on Xbox Series S.” Considering Sea of Thieves already looks great on the Xbox One X, we’re looking forward to these visual enhancements on the next-gen consoles, as well as the reduced load times expected in most Xbox Series X/S optimized titles.
Many titles that came out for the Xbox One family of consoles will be getting optimized for Xbox Series X, such as Gears 5, Borderlands 3, and Grounded among current-gen titles getting improvements on next-gen. The Sea of Thieves community continues to grow as Rare Studios continues to evolve and grow the game, so it’s fitting that this pirate simulator will be cross-generational. Considering crossplay is already available between Sea of Thieves on Xbox One and PC, it’s likely that Xbox Series X/S players will be able to play with their friends still playing on current-gen tech when the next-gen consoles release.
