Game On
The opening volleys of the latest console war are over, and while Microsoft and Sony may have reached some modicum of peace and understanding, it’s hard to deny that the PlayStation 5 has drawn ahead, selling well over a million more units than the Xbox Series X. Part of this is due to much-touted advances in the tech – including some innovations Microsoft are reportedly looking into replicating – and another part is exclusives – an area it’s hard to deny both Sony and Nintendo have historically had a significant edge in compared to Xbox, which only has a handful of exclusive games and franchises at the same level as, say, The Last of Us: Part 2 or Final Fantasy VII: Remake.
Still, that’s not to say Xbox are dead in the water – far from it – and they’re reportedly planning a Gaming Event later this month.
Gaming events are hardly new, with consoles, developers, and even specific franchises taking the time to let us know what to expect. The event will reportedly give us a glimpse of what we can expect, but it’s hard to know for sure exactly what will be covered – hell, just look at how many times we’ve predicted a Silent Hill reveal at just about every gaming event of the past year. We don’t know at this point whether the reported even will be focused at consumers or investors, but given that Xbox are holding a large event in the summer, it’s likely they’ll want to hold back news on some of their more anticipated releases – like Fable – until then.
Of course, this is just a rumor at this point, so take it with a grain of salt – but Xbox have been fairly consistent with their events, so it wouldn’t be out of the question, by any means.
