The Only Way You Can Survive is to Find Out Who You Are
Yeah, you guessed it–the remake of 2003’s stylish cel-shaded shooter XIII is almost here. Based on the first five volumes of a Belgian graphic novel which began being published in 1984, XIII is a cult classic First Person Shooter that tells a story of action, espionage, and identity. Also, it looks like a comic book come to life, which is very cool. Players take on the role of the titular XIII, a man with no past and no future if he can’t get out of the mess he’s found himself in. Mercenaries are trying to kill him. He’s wanted by the FBI. All of this is tangled up in the assassination of the president and the most astounding conspiracy in the history of the United States. So yeah, it’s a pretty awesome set-up.
You can unravel these mysteries by sneaking and fighting your way through the singleplayer campaign, which offers 34 levels that are all faithful to the original game design. Travel from Brighton Beach to army bases and even the Grand Canyon Valley. We can’t promise you’ll be able to blow everything up, but it’ll definitely be a sight to behold in the game’s trademark stylized graphics. The original soundtrack and voices will also make a return, meaning you can hear David Duchovny as XIII once again. Alternately, you can compete in 4 player split-screen battles. That sounds pretty great, too.
There’s also a Limited Edition version which features:
- The retail version of the game.
- A two-sided metal case.
- 3 art cards.
- 13 in-game golden weapon skins.
XIII will be released tomorrow on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch version will be released in 2021.
