PUBG has been making waves as far as game franchises go. PUBG PC has been adding more and more content every update with new maps and revamping the old ones. Even the mobile variant of the game has been making headlines in India. After the Government of India banned PUBG Mobile and other Tencent games on September 2nd, it seems like even a small snippet or quote from anywhere about its return can make huge waves. While both PUBG Mobile and PUBG for PC and consoles have always enjoyed the attention of streamers and publications, one of the most ignored cousins of them is PUBG Lite PC.
PUBG Lite PC is a free game made by PUBG Corporation that is available only on PC. The game generated a lot of interest and buzz when it was launched but slowly started losing it as well. A lot had to do with how the Beta of PUBG Lite PC was released but mainly the blame lies with PUBG Corporation for ignoring the game and not advertising in countries like India where there is a huge base of players who love both PUBG and free games. Having said that, game studios have always ignored countries like India even if it has players. More on that later.
PUBG Lite PC Update:
Now coming back to PUBG Lite PC, the game was presumed to be dead. Yes, quite like a person who remains missing for more than six months is presumed dead. However, a dev letter made its wild appearance on the website of PUBG Lite PC. Just to give context, the last patch, and dev letter that this game received was in April. So this new dev letter literally came after six months. It’s sad and funny at the same time how game studios only care about in-game purchases and not about the game itself.
However, the dev letter for November had some interesting bits but not much when it comes to substance. Mainly the dev letter talked about how the in-game currency of PUBG Lite PC called L-Coin is going to be terminated and the game is going to completely free from December 15th. The seasonal pass is also going away and will be replaced by regular missions that players can grind on and get points. For players who already have L-Coins in their inventory, you can use them still but once they’re used you won’t be getting them anymore. Hopefully, we will see the game improve next year or at the very least, die in a manner that it deserves.
