The tweet included a message addressed to Prince of Persia fans. The message stated:
“Since announcing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise. It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible. With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date. This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.
We understand the update might come as a surprise and we will continue to keep you posted on the progress of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. In the meantime, we want to thank you for your ongoing support.”
This isn’t the first time the game has been delayed as it was originally supposed to release last month in January, but was delayed until March due to additional conflicts brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the news may sound disappointing, many fans appear to be okay and even happy with the decision as some initial footage of the remake was… underwhelming to say the least. Most players prefer to see a game delayed to be improved upon, then to realize too early –take Cyberpunk 2077 as an example.
Hopefully the extra time will help Ubisoft make Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake the best possible package it can be.
