Does This Mean There’s a New Mainline Game On the Horizon?
Pokemon is a beloved franchise, the face of childhood worldwide, so it might be a surprise to learn that it’s only been around for 25 years. It certainly was to us! The franchise has announced plans to celebrate this milestone in 2021 over Twitter. Hopefully, the celebration will happen after this crisis has passed and we can all go outside again. Not that we don’t love these Pokemon masks, but we all miss being able to go outside and party. And since 2021 will also see the launch of at least one new Pokemon movie, we’ve got a lot to celebrate.
Need one more thing to be thankful for today, Trainers?

What could the future hold? More movies? A new mainline Pokemon game? A reboot of the now extremely long-running anime? A new spin-off series? Something we can’t even imagine? Whatever The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have in store for us, we’re already excited. We mean, come on, these people already gave us Metapod sleeping bags. There’s nothing they won’t do to get our hard-earned money. You gotta respect that kind of determination, especially when it’s packaged so cutely.
2020 didn’t see a single mainline Pokemon game, though we did get some expansions for Sword and Shield, so fingers crossed that 2021 takes us to a new region and unveils new critters to catch, befriend, and feed tasty digital treats. Some spooky ghosts, maybe a new dragon or two, and you can’t forget the Legendaries. How about a new fox? We like foxes.
