Chill Beats to Study and Farm to
Indie darling farming and romance simulator Stardew Valley just keeps going from strength to strength. Following the release of huge amounts of new in-game content in both patches 1.4 and 1.5 and a physical release on Nintendo Switch, Stardew Valley creator and lead developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone has teamed up with Scarlet Moon Records’ Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies series for a calming, jazz-infused album of Stardew Valley’s best tunes.
Prescription for Sleep: Stardew Valley is the eleventh album in the Prescription for Sleep series and marks the series’ seventh anniversary. It follows adaptations of other classic video game soundtracks including Secret of Mana, Undertale and Celeste, as well as a special charity EP in honour of the legendary Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. The album includes 11 tracks from Stardew Valley, lovingly covered in a jazz-infused, calming lullaby style that’s sure to calm the nerves as you make the late-night dash back to your farm from the mines. There’s also an original Stardew Valley-inspired piece by composer GENTLE LOVE, designed to reflect the game’s seasonal structure in a unique and creative way – every two bars of Beauty in Seasons is meant to represent one month of the game’s calendar, letting you experience the changing of the seasons as the song progresses.
Stardew Valley’s creator and composer ConcernedApe reflects on the process of having his music recreated: “I actually listened to a lot of GENTLE LOVE while developing Stardew Valley and now, to hear my melodies masterfully re-imagined and expanded upon by them is a great honor and a treat to me. This album is something I will personally cherish for the rest of my life, and I hope it brings you a lot of peace and happiness!”
Prescription for Sleep: Stardew Valley is available now on all music storefronts, including Spotify, Bandcamp and Apple Music.
