New Titles Include Two Formerly Japan-Exclusive Games
Nintendo Switch Online has reached a major milestone with its most recent update. This paid service now gives subscribers access to over 100 classic games plus more recent titles, such as the battle royale game PAC-MAN 99. Five new games were added this month and they’re definitely a blast from the past, including two which have never seen an official release on western shores before. Hailing from the SNES, we have a retro Stone Age adventure known as Caveman Ninja (or Joe & Mac), a magical puzzle game in Magical Drop2, a superhuman baseball spectacle in Super Baseball Simulator 1.000, a hilarious battle of monkey vs evil witch in Spanky’s Quest, and finally some classic princess-saving action in the tongue-twisting Ninja JaJaMaru-kun.
Each of these games looks like a ton of fun for the retro gamer in your life, but we’re especially intrigued by Magical Drop2 and Ninja JaJaMaru-kun, which are making their western debuts as part of this update. There’s always something wonderful about finally getting your hands on a game you were unable to play before, especially ones with such strong aesthetics. Besides, Ninja JaJaMaru-kun lets you ride around on a giant frog like something out of Naruto. It’s hard to beat the opportunity to ride a giant frog. Magical Drop2 reminds us a lot of Puyo Puyo in appearance and in mechanics, so fans of those games might want to consider giving this one a look.
Nintendo has made it clear that they will keep working on Nintendo Switch Online and adding new games to its collection, so this is just the beginning of what’s in store for players. If you’re a fan of good retro games, particularly ones that didn’t make it across the ocean in the past, consider signing up for this service.
