Nintendo Dominated Amazon Gaming This Year
Amazon has officially revealed its top-selling games of 2020, and without considering pre-paid PlayStation and Microsoft Store cards, Nintendo absolutely dominated the charts. Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe retained a solid sales lead that they both started the year with, while more recently released titles such as Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity still held a strong sales lead. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also cracked Amazon’s top five in games sales this year and it’s available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
The following titles are Amazon’s top-selling games of 2020:
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Physical)
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Digital code)
- Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4)
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
- The Last of Us Part II
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Considering just how many Nintendo titles are in Amazon’s best sellers of 2020, it’s stunning to see the big N hold such a big lead in a year that felt somewhat underwhelming for the Nintendo Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to sell well despite launching alongside the Nintendo Switch back in 2017. Amazon UK also released its top-selling games of 2020 which are as followed:
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- FIFA 21 (PS4)
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- FIFA 21 (Xbox One)
- Just Dance 2021 (Switch)
- The Last of Us Part II
- Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4)
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (Xbox One)
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PS4)
Amazon US showed a distinct Nintendo lead among the top ten, while Amazon UK’s chart shows a more diverse lineup. While many US gamers seem to be catching up on their Nintendo Switch back catalog, it looks like the UK is really interested in the new Viking-themed Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance 2021, both developed and produced by Ubisoft.
