I Thought They Were Going With Story of Seasons?
Harvest Moon is a really influential game and is basically the model of farming sim that other games have done their best to emulate. In Japan, the series is called Story of Seasons, which many fans know. For the past few years, publisher Natsume has been releasing these games under the Story of Seasons name, which Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is coming this March to North America, but they also plan to release Harvest Moon: One World earlier that month. Make up your mind! Is it Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons? Are they separate series? Send help!
Story of Seasons AND Harvest Moon coming within a couple of months of each other? For farming sim fans, this is a great problem to have. However, it just seems that they will be competing against each other, and for what? Not to generalize, but they are basically the same game. In both games, you can farm, mine, fish, craft, raise animals, marry a bachelor or bachelorette of your choice; you know, the farming sim life.
Harvest Moon: One World does have one feature that every farming sim farmer wishes they had at one point or another; the ability to pick up their farm and move. Apparently, since there are different regions to the world, like biomes, there will now be a feature called Expando-Farm, which literally allows you to pack up your farm and move it to a different area. However, if that’s the only differentiating feature from Pioneers of Olive Town, who cares, right? Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is expected to come out March 23rd, 2021 for Nintendo Switch and Harvest Moon: One World is expected to come out on March 2nd, 2021 for Nintendo Switch and PS4.
