It looks like Riot is finally starting to come around and change their stance on critical game decisions. Riot made some pretty stern statements on things they said they would never do for Valorant. Now, it looks like they might be changing their mind. We have new info on the new map name and a new skin collection. It looks like Riot Games is starting to reconsider some of the things that they said they weren’t going to do back when the game launched last year. This article focuses on a Riot Games dev who said that it was possible that we could get new weapons in Valorant but not anytime soon.

If you remember back when the game was first in beta, multiple game devs said that they were comfortable with 18 different weapons being in the game and that new ones weren’t needed. They claimed that 18 is a perfect balance of guns between six different categories and that they didn’t need to add any more for the game’s balance sake. A lot of people brought this concern up because CS:GO has had several weapons added over the years. While some of them have actually been pretty fun silly type of guns but also some of them have been pretty meta-changing as well.

This is a quote from Valorant game dev Nicholas Wu Smith on the matter “eventually we’ll add new weapons”, he said in an April 12th Twitch stream. As to when the next gun might release or how many Riot may drop at once, the dev was pretty tight-lipped. Will we get new guns this year, a viewer asked and probably not he quickly replied. So it could potentially be 2022 at the earliest before we hear or see anything that pertains to this issue. We can only speculate what type of weapon they could consider adding in the future but they gave us reassurance that it would have to be a hit scan since that is what all the guns in Valorant are already categorized as. Smith says we used to have an auto sniper just like CS:GO.
