At Least, the Physical Edition Does–the Digital Edition is Right on Schedule
Kaze and the Wild Masks is a fast-paced pixel platformer inspired by classic 90s properties, starring a rabbit who’s as dangerous as she is adorable. In this game, players will take on the role of Kaze and draw on the power of magical masks to battle cursed plants and rescue Kaze’s friend Hogo from a curse spread across the islands. It’s been on our radar for a while, so we were disappointed to hear that the physical edition was being delayed. The physical release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One has been postponed until May 25th, 2021, though the digital release for those platforms (plus Steam and Google Stadia) is still expected to launch on March 26th for those of us who just can’t wait for more magical rabbity action.
The press release describes Kaze’s quest and abilities with these words–“Face enraged living vegetables by invoking the powers of the Wild Masks. Pounce ferociously like a tiger, soar through the sky like an eagle, sprint fiercely like a lizard and rule the sea like a shark.”–which is more than enough to get us excited. There’s nothing quite like a solid 90s-style 2D platformer to get the blood pumping. Add in a cute but cool aesthetic, fluffy animals, and just a dash of creepy monsters, and we’re set.
Game features include:
- Unleash the skills of the wild masks to get powers from the tiger, eagle, lizard and shark
- Uncover the secrets of the Crystal Islands in 30+ levels with over 50 bonus levels
- Relive your childhood memories of classic platformers with high quality frame by frame pixel art
- Pave your way through a satisfyingly smooth, but challenging platformer
- Refresh your ears with 25+ tracks inspired by the musical themes of the 16-bit era
