IPL 2020 has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for their new skipper Eoin Morgan.
Unlike most of his other team-mates here at the KKR, the Irishman had just arrived three days before the tournament was to begin on September 19.
In the two weeks before that, he had led England to victory in a T20 series over Australia, and then had lost the ODI series by the same margin of 2-1.
Immediately after that finished, he arrived in the UAE, exiting one bio-secure bubble to arrive in another one here for the IPL, and joined his squad after a six-day quarantine.
In the IPL, things did not start well for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season that was led by Dinesh Karthik. And suddenly after 7 matches into the tournament, Karthik informed the team that he would like to step down as the KKR skipper. A few hours later, Eoin Morgan was given the job of taking the team forward for the rest of the season.
Mixed results for Eoin Morgan so far
His two matches as the skipper so far, have resulted in one loss and a win for the team, with the KKR now embarking on the important stage of playing for a place in the playoffs.
On Wednesday, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the KKR skipper came out onto the field for a T20 match for the 300th time in his career.
The team that is placed at No. 4 on the points table, needs to get back to winning ways if they want to earn a place in the playoffs.
On Wednesday, Englishman Tom Banton and pacer Prasidh Krishna were brought in place of Andre Russell and Shivam Mavi.
The failure of Andre Russell in this tournament both with the bat and the ball has been a huge disappointment for the KKR fans.
However, in the crucial encounter, the KKR batting top-order once again failed and the team seemed to be heading for one of the lowest scores in the tournament at the time of filing this report.
