Ooo and Aah
Adventure Time may have ended two years ago, but that doesn’t mean that people have forgotten it. After all, the show ran for ten seasons over eight years, airing 283 episodes – a little over 35 a year. It’s not necessarily a show that everyone has seen in-depth but it’s likely one you know in passing, and Ubisoft are banking on that nostalgia to promote their new game, Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is a fantasy game in the vein of The Legend of Zenda: Breath of the Wild, albeit drawing inspiration from Greek Mythology. Narrated by Zeus, king of the gods, and Prometheus, who gifted fire to humanity, the game sees protagonist Fenyx fighting to rescue the Greek Gods from Typhon, a titan cast out to Tartarus (a vast underworld that acted as a prison for his kind). The game will have a lighthearted tone, likely with Prometheus and Zeus bickering about the events that play out, and if the trailer is anything to go by, we’re due to get some laughs, as well.
The trailer sees Adventure Time protagonists Finn and Jake stumble from their homeland of Ooo and into Immortals: Fenyx Rising’s Greek-inspired world and crossing paths with a deadly Cerberus. The two charge into battle only to be rescued by Fenyx, who flies off dismissively.
Is this a hint at a deeper crossover? We don’t know for sure. What we do know is that Ubisoft have teased another Adventure Time themed surprise in the future. If nothing else, it’s a lot of effort to go through to promote a game, especially since Adventure Time ended its run two years ago. Luckily, with the game launching on December 3rd, we only have a little while to wait for more information.
