They Laughed at Me When I Brought My Hot Wheels to College…
It appears that the locations in Mattel’s upcoming Hot Wheels Unleashed are getting more and more variety. We have seen most of the trailers and gameplay within a garage setting, there will also be a Skyscraper level, and now we are seeing a College Campus area. While there are going to be a ton of unique track creations with the editor tools, but the different maps will also be adding another level of atmosphere and scenery to user created tracks.
The College Campus location is set within a library, which believe you me, is not the most exciting place in college. Although, if you want an empty place, there is nowhere better. It also explores hallways, lecture halls, and a science lab. We see the track running through bookshelves, under tables, passed chairs, and even through the ceiling. The tracks themselves also seem to be getting progressively complicated through the trailers. There are parts of the track that run on objects in the library, as well as upside-down sections and places where it deviates.
It will be interesting to see the track editor in action to see just how creative users will be able to be in a given space. Hopefully, we will see that and more locations before the game launches. Hot Wheels Unleashed will be coming out on September 30th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
