Social Inequality is Pretty Scary
We’re still getting a storm of Genshin Impact leaks for Update 1.5 and later patches. Sometimes, this means getting a sneak peek at upcoming characters, gathering evidence that Dendro won’t be coming anytime soon, or piecing together when we’ll finally get to explore the Inazuma region. Other times, this means getting our grubby little hands all over unreleased events. Today, we’re taking a look at the upcoming Windtrace and Mimi Tomo events. We’re particularly interested in the Windtrace minigame, which seems to be modeled after asymmetrical PVP games like Dead by Daylight–with a fantasy twist, of course.

In the lore we’ve seen so far, Windtrace is set up to be a Mondstadt minigame focusing on the conflict between Rebels and a Hunter sent by the aristocracy. The two sides will have a contest of wits where the Rebels must hide and keep moving and the Hunter must capture them all. In other words, it’s basically Dead by Daylight, but probably without the meat hooks. Playing the minigame will earn you Windtrace coins that can be exchanged for cool rewards. This is just information mined from the beta, so there’s no guarantee that it will reflect the final product, but it’s worth noting that Chinese dataminers–who have been proven correct in the past–also dug up mention of a Dead by Daylight-esque asymmetrical PVP minigame coming to Genshin Impact.
Also leaked is the Mimi Tomo event, which will see the Traveler and Hilichurl language specialist Ella Musk trying to locate the Unusual Hilichurl added in Update 1.1. Apparently ‘Mimi Tomo’ is in the Hilichurl language, so we’ll have to wait and see to find out what it means.
