The Immortal Gods Have Found a New Arena
The many iconic characters and tales of Greek mythology have been invented and reinvented countless times over the years, but this may be the first time they’ve found their way into UNO. Inspired by their new IP Immortals: Fenyx Rising, Ubisoft has added a new DLC to the popular UNO console game: Fenyx’s Quest. They promise that “The Fenyx’s Quest DLC will add a fantastical twist to the classic UNO experience with new features based on the most iconic elements of the Golden Isle.”
What does that actually mean? Well, for starters, the DLC adds a new environment to play the game in, access to the Immortals: Fenyx Rising soundtrack, and exclusive themed cards. Also, players will free one of four cursed gods at the beginning of the game, and the selected god will use their powers to influence the gameplay mechanics.
The gods’ influence will take the following forms:
- Aphrodite: Become immune to all damage from Typhon.
- Hephaistos: For every three cards played, discard all cards of a specific colour.
- Athena: When opponent draws a card after not having a match, discard a random card.
- Ares: Each time a card is played, two random cards of the same colour are discarded.
This certainly adds a new spin to an old card game! Judging by the launch trailer, the devs did a great job of bringing the world of Immortals: Fenyx Rising to… well, UNO. The art looks great, the cutscenes are fantastic, and the sound design is genuinely good. That music will be playing in our heads all day. It’s definitely a worthy addition to the list of Immortals: Fenyx Rising DLC and spinoffs.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC. The first DLC pack, A New God, costs $14.99 USD on its own, or can be purchased as part of the Season Pass for $39.99. The Season Pass provides access to all three DLC packs, including A New God and two upcoming packs, “Myths Of The Eastern Realm” and “The Lost Gods”.
UNO: Fenyx’s Quest is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One consoles, the Nintendo Switch system, Windows PC, and coming soon to Stadia for £3.99. Fenyx’s Quest will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility.
