Free Fortnite Continues Into 2021
Epic Games is continuing the Free Fortnite trend going into 2021, with influencers recently receiving care packages themed around the movement. The package is a minimalistic white design similar to what Apple products would come in, but Epic Games influencers are receiving a black bomber jacket adorned with ‘Free Fortnite’ in rainbow colours, as well as a Samsung Galaxy S7 tablet. Fortnite is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Mac, PC, and Android, with Apple still blocking the iOS version.
“Fortnite was named the Samsung Galaxy Store Game of the Year for 2020,” said Epic Games. “In celebration, we’ve teamed up with Samsung to send you a special box of #FreeFortnite gear. While Fortnite may not currently be available on the App Store of Google Play, you can still get the latest Fortnite updates directly from the Epic Games app on the Galaxy Store. Spread the word.” Back in September, Epic Games began their campaign against Apple for its monopolistic practices of taking a cut from every app on the platform.
Epic Games is sending additional loot to influencers, with some receiving free Master Chief merchendise inspired by the collaboration between Microsoft and Epic Games. Other influncers have received Fortnite inspired merch, with Sypher PK showing off a spray painted framed AR that looks like it belongs in a museum. Considering Epic Games is continuing the Free Fortnite branding, it’s likely that the feud between them and Apple will continue into 2021, though we’d like to see a happy resolution for both parties as they go to court in multiple countries.
