The Floss Turns 5: Following EPAM’s Epic Journey with Epic Games
EPAM Systems and Epic Games are celebrating five years as partners as they continue to improve Fortnite together. The software engineering pioneers at EPAM help make Epic’s battle royale and other Epic Games projects possible, focusing on seven major areas: online services, big data/analytics, the player support portal, game infrastructure, security, player engagement tools, and testing. With Epic Games continuing to lead the battle royale charge with Fortnite going into another year, it looks like EPAM will continue to be part of their story. Fortnite is available for free right now on current and next-gen consoles, Android, Mac, and PC.
“There’s no question that Fortnite, one of Epic Games’ most successful programs, has become a worldwide phenomenon that reaches well beyond gaming and into merchandising, marketing partnerships and, of course, those fun and unique dance trends,” said Co-Head of Game Tech at EPAM, Vitalii Vashchuk. “At its core, Fortnite has become the epitome of modern gaming, catering to players of all ages and skill levels in an entirely digital environment.”
“It’s an unprecedented and unparalleled digital ecosystem that provides the infrastructure and services needed to power games at Fortnite’s massive scale, combined with a handpicked library of games through the Epic Games Store as well as the company’s Unreal Engine, the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D tool. EPAM is proud to have been part of Epic Games’ story since before the creation of Fortnite.”
While EPAM Systems does a lot of work behind the scenes to help make Fortnite happen, celebrating five years as Epic Games’ partners is quite the accomplishment. Considering all of the aspects of Fortnite that come together to create a full package, it makes sense that a team of software engineers helps make that happen. Fortnite Nexus War ended with over 15 million players joining a battle against Galactus and EPAM and Epic Games together made it happen.
