You’ll Need to Wait a Little Longer to Visit Night City
Despite the notable excitement for Cyberpunk 2077, it’s safe to say that the past few months have soured people on the upcoming game. Despite the news pouring in about CDPR’s questionable practices, however, it remains one of the most anticipated games of a year filled with instant classics and mega-hits, and had a strong potential to be one of the greatest launch games in history.

Unfortunately, despite previous promises to the contrary, Developer CD Projekt Red today announced a further delay to Cyberpunk 2077’s release, making it the third time the game, which was due to launch in April, has been delayed.
‘
Of course, we can’t lay the blame entirely on CD Projekt Red. Games are delayed for all sorts of reasons and 2020 has been a tumultuous year all around, messing with the release dates of several anticipated games. Final Fantasy VII Remake, for example, was released early in some markets to ensure everyone would get to play at around the same time, whereas The Last of Us: Part 2 was delayed indefinitely, given that the plot sees the heroine, Ellie, travelling through a post-apocalyptic landscape in the wake of a pandemic. All companies want to ensure their product is worth the wait, and sometimes that means extending the wait a little. However, a schedule slip after previously promising that the game wouldn’t be delayed again, especially in light of the numerous reports of forced overtime seemingly in place to meet the latest November deadline, is bound to leave a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths.
The good news is that the new release date, December 10th, is only three weeks after the previously planned release date of November 19th. The bad news is that we’ll all have to wait a little longer to see what Night City has in store.
