Apple TV+ is set to get a new drama series called Lessons in Chemistry, with Brie Larson starring and executive producing.
Based on an upcoming novel from Bonnie Garmus, the series is set in the early 1960s and follows Elizabeth (Larson). Larson’s character aspires to be a scientist, which is unrealistic considering the times when there were expectations that women should stay at home. Despite situations that get her fired from her job, though, she still works her way towards being a scientist.
The novel won’t be published until 2022, so it’s unclear when the series will get released.
Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan will also serve as executive producers of the series via their Aggregate Films banner that’s produced shows like Ozark and The Outsiders.
Larson will also star in another Apple TV+ series based on the memoir, Life Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA. Unfortunately, COVID-19 and some issues in the show’s writing process have reportedly caused Apple put the project on hold.
