Halo 3 Is Getting a New Map All These Years Later
343 Industries has officially announced that a new map is coming to Halo 3 from the canceled Halo Online project that was developed by Saber Interactive. Halo Online was a free-to-play Halo multiplayer release that only rolled out to Russia, leaving most of us in the dark, but this upcoming multiplayer map will give Halo fans a taste of what that experience was like. Halo 3 is part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The new map officially being added to Halo 3 from Halo Online hasn’t been confirmed by 343 Industries, but speculation suggests that it’s a Halo Online map known as Waterfall. Waterfall was a canceled Halo Online map that never even saw the light of day which would feel new for fans of Halo Online and Halo 3 alike.
Halo fans who want to try the upcoming Halo Online map in Halo 3 as soon as possible will need to be members of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s beta flighting program. Halo fans are already exploring the new map through this beta program but it hasn’t officially released for fans that aren’t signed up with the beta flighting program. While this is likely the last map for Halo 3, it’s impressive to see 343 Industries continue to evolve The Master Chief Collection into a definitive Halo experience.
