Mumbai:
The political row over Kangana Ranaut’s tweet likening Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir – for which she has been threatened by Shiv Sena leaders – heated up further in the mean time when Anil Vij, Residence Minister in BJP-led Haryana authorities, sought police security for the actor.
“KanganaRanaut should be given police security. She should be allowed to make revelations freely (inside the Sushant Singh Rajput case),” Haryana Minister Anil Vij instructed ANI seemingly endorsing the “freedom of speech” stance taken by Amruta Fadnavis, partner of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis.
Mr Vij’s request to “defend” the actor comes a day after Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik said Ms Ranaut should be booked for sedition and that his colleague Sanjay Raut’s suggestion – of Shiv Sena ladies members slapping the actor if she flew into Mumbai on September 9 – had been delicate.
In response to his comment the chief of Nationwide Price for Girls, Rekha Sharma, demanded that Mr Sarnaik be arrested.
A supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, Ms Ranaut has been persistently attacking the Congress-Shiv Sena-NCP authorities in Maharashtra, the Mumbai Police and Bollywood over the dying of actor Sushant Singh Rajput for weeks now.
In response, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had simply recently written inside the celebration mouthpiece: “We kindly request her to not come to Mumbai. That’s nothing nonetheless an insult to Mumbai Police. The Residence Ministry should take movement over it.”
Ms Ranaut had responded saying, “Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena chief, has given me an open danger and requested me to not come once more to Mumbai, after Aazadi graffitis in Mumbai streets and now open threats, why Mumbai is feeling like Pakistan occupied Kashmir?”
The assertion has since snowballed proper right into a political free for all.
Though the BJP has distanced itself from the controversy stirred by Ms Ranaut just a few of its allies have backed the actor.
