Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War Has a Roadmap
Activision and Treyarch have officially unveiled Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War’s release roadmap which includes tons of free content beyond the release of the game. Included in the launch roadmap for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War are new weapons, game modes, maps, and a new “mysterious Warzone experience.” Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is getting a cross-generational release on November 13th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
While previous installments in the Call of Duty franchise have locked new maps, guns, etc. behind paid DLC bundles, last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brought free content to all gamers regardless of platform or how much money they spent. Apparently, this was a successful business model because Activision is continuing the free content trend with the cross-generational Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Just as Modern Warfare and Warzone received seasonal updates that brought new content, so will Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and the new Warzone coming with the next Call of Duty title.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s launch roadmap was far more specific, but Treyarch is being vague about which particular guns, game modes, or Warzone changes can be expected during the initial roadmap. The rifle they’re teasing for the first roadmap resembles the Groza, but the team is being coy about the future free DLC. The new map Treyarch has confirmed for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is Nuketown ’84 which is a rusted and decayed version of the familiar Call of Duty: Black Ops map.
